How you can help

Being a small team of just two full-time members of staff, we sometimes rely on the kind help of volunteers to help us reach our goals.

Some people come in and join us in the office, for instance as interns. We also run a Sudanese Visitors’ Group that arranges visits to individuals held in immigration removal centres nationwide. Or we sometimes arrange for people to befriend someone outside of the detention estate, meeting them weekly, or whenever suits you best, for a cup of tea and a chat. This can go a long way to helping a vulnerable Sudanese asylum-seeker or refugee feel welcomed and integrated in the UK.

So please get in touch if you have an idea of how you’d like to stay involved in our work.

Thank you so much for your support!

Essentially though we welcome help of any kind and especially according to your unique abilities such as:

  • Research
  • Report-writing
  • Donations of clothing or other items (we will try and match with immediate need as we are unable to store items)
  • Quilt-making knowledge or expertise
  • Training or one time presentations to various community groups specialising in Mental Health and Trauma, support around integration into life in the UK (cultural integration) or help coordinating cultural days out in your area
  • Translation (into/from Arabic or English and local Sudanese dialects) and interpretation
